The Monthly Sanitation Exercise for the month of August holds tomorrow in the State between the hours of nine and eleven o’clock in the morning.

A release signed by the Commissioner for Environment, Chief Sam Nwogu, states that movement of people and vehicles during the period shall be restricted with the exception of those on essential duties, who would be required to present on demand, valid identification or any authentic authorization for such exemption.

According to the release, the Chairmen of the Local Government Councils, Traditional Rulers, Town Union Leaders, Religious Leaders, Youth and Women Organizations in the state, are required to monitor and sensitize their people on the importance of the exercise.

The release states that, all markets, motor parks, private and public transport companies as well as business premises are to remain closed today  between the hours of seven and nine o’clock  this morning to carry out their own clean-up exercise.

It enjoins the Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safety Corps, the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps to assemble at their usual places of takeoff for deployment. The release further directs people to stay at home, clean up their areas and must work with their nose mask, while defaulters shall be arrested and prosecuted in line with the State Basic Environmental Law.
