ZIMBABWEAN FEMALE OPPOSITION MEMBERS LOSE APPLICATION TO DROP FAKE ABDUCTION CHARGES.

A Magistrates’’ Court in Zimbabwe’s capital Harare has dismissed an application by two female opposition Party members Joanah Mamombe and Cecilia Chinembiri to drop charges of faking an abduction.

The Members of Parliament applied for the charges to be dismissed last month, arguing that the State had failed to prove its case against them.

Chief Magistrate, Faith Mushure ruled that the two had failed to discredit the State’s evidence, while their case will continue on fifteenth of this month.

The two, along with another citizen’s coalition for change party official, Ms Netsai Marova, were arrested after they said they were victims of abduction in May 2020.

They alleged that State agents kidnapped, tortured and sexually assaulted them before dumping them outside the capital.

The prosecution charged the trio with falsely claiming to have been abducted, adding that Ms Marova is no longer part of the case as she now lives outside Zimbabwe.
