The Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu says his administration recognizes that inadequate Data of persons affects effective planning.
Speaking during the 2022 World National Identity Day celebration held at the Michael Okpara Auditorium, Umuahia, Governor Ikpeazu underscored the importance of comprehensive Data Base in the State.
The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Okochukwu reassured the National Identity Management Commission NIMC of his willingness to partner her in establishing a comprehensive data base to improve the country’s Gross Domestic Product GDP.
He commended the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Pantami for his efforts to ensure that people get registered and congratulated partners in the project on the award bestowed on them.
In his speech, the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof Isa Ali Pantami represented by the Director, Research and Documentation, Dr Agu Collins Agu promised to collaborate with the State Government in digital automation and transformation in order to increase the State’s Internal Generated Revenue.
He expressed delight that Abia is taking the lead position in National Identity registration in line with its efforts to maintain its position as the commercial hub of Eastern Nigeria.
In her address, the Special Adviser to the Governor on NIMC, Digital Economy, Ecosystem and Related Matters, Princess Glad Apugo Osoagbaka said NIMC in the State has created a lot of employment, addressed security issues as well as encouraged the State’s Gross Domestic Product.
She also disclosed that the agency would build a digital complex in the State before the end of the Dr Okezie Ikpeazu led administration.
In his remarks, the Chairman on the occasion, Sir Mark Atasie pointed out that the key component of any Nation is the capacity to recognize and identify one another at any given time through the NIN exercise.
Presenting his goodwill message, a NIMC consultant, Mr. Favour Oditah who was conferred with Best Digital Innovative Supporter of the Year said they would adopt the Identity number and domesticates the National Identification Number in a Data Base to improve the revenue of Abia State and promised to work in synergy with the Abia Team to actualize their vision.
Our Government House Correspondent, Mercy Kalu reports that the delegation earlier paid a courtesy visit on the Governor, while the event featured the conferment of the best performing Digital Governor, on Dr Okezie Ikpeazu, the best performing Minister, on the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Prof Pantami and the best Emerging Digital Politician, on the PDP Governorship Candidate, Prof Uche Ikonne .
The event which also featured cutting of the ceremonial cake, attracted the presence of top Government Officials, the DG BCA, Sir Anyaso Anyaso, Traditional Rulers and other notable personalities.
