The wife of the Governor, Dr. Mrs. Nkechi Ikpeazu has enjoined women to always engage in meaningful ventures that impact positively on society.
Dr Mrs. Ikpeazu who gave the charge during the Maiden Ohiya-Ukwu Women August Conference, unveiling of their Uniform and Award Ceremony with the theme, the Role of Women in Community Development held at a Capital Nkwo-Ebo Ohiya-Ukwu Village Square, umuahia south local government area described women as role models and integral part of development of every Society.
The Wife of the Governor who was represented by her Principal Secretary, Chief Mrs. Love Ezema stressed the need for Women to always educate their girl child on the importance of knowing their genotype before getting married as well taking care of themselves and household.
In their remarks the Chairman on the occasion, Pastor Emeka Inyamah represented by Mr. Kingsley Asuoha and the Member Representing Umuahia South State Constituency Chief Jerry Uzosike represented by the Chairman Umuahia South Local Government Area Dr Humphrey Benson and a Community Leader, Sir, Commissioner for Works, Sir Longman Nwachukwu said Women play important roles in family and Community development as well as Commended Ohiya-Ukwu women for promoting peace and Unity in the area.
In her Address, the President Ohiya-Ukwu Development Union, Women’s Wing Mrs. Queen Azubuike said that since the inception of her Administration in April this year, she has been able to unite the women through their weekly prayer meeting, seminars and other life impacting programs and Commended the Sons and Daughters of the community for their efforts towards the development of the Ohiya-Ukwu community
The Event which featured various presentations by the Women also saw the wife of the Governor distribute wrappers to the Indigent Women and had in attendance a representative of the Speaker (ABHA) Chief Chinedum Orji among other notable personalities.
