GOVERNMENT RESTATES DETERMINATION TO PRIORITIZE STUDENTS’ WELFARE.

The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has assured students in the State that his administration will continue to prioritize their welfare

Governor Ikpeazu gave this assurance at the Governor’s Lodge Aba, when the leadership of the National Association of Abia State Students and representatives of the National Association of Nigeria Students paid him a solidarity visit.

He advised them not to make themselves available to politicians whose sole intentions are to use them as election human shields

The Governor charged students of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike against any plan to block the Umuahia Ikot Ekpene Highway as part of the anti ASUU strike demonstration.

The State Chief Executive also used the opportunity to appeal to the Federal Government and ASUU to consider the plight of the students and resolve the strike issue.

In their remarks, the students Union Leaders, led by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Student Matters, Comrade Chibuzo Ndom, disclosed that Governor Ikpeazu has stood by them long before now, which they came to show solidarity and pointed out that they are not available to politicians who appear on the scene because of elections.
