Nigeria has been re-elected as a part-two member of the International Civil Aviation Organization, ICAO, Council for a new three-year term.
The Minister of Aviation Hadi Sirika who disclosed this in a statement yesterday by his Special Assistant, Public Affairs, James Odaudu said Nigeria garnered one hundred and forty nine votes to be elected for the fifteenth consecutive times.
Mr. Sirika said the re-election took place at the Plenary Session of the ongoing forty first General Assembly of the Organization in Montreal, Canada.
He noted that the increased number of countries that supported Nigeria, showed its rising profile amongst member nations.
The Aviation Minister, who was the leader of the Nigerian delegation at the Assembly, commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his continued support to the Aviation Sector which he said has translated into the numerous achievements being celebrated by the Global Aviation Community.
