The Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu has been honoured with a Distinguished Personality Award by the Aba Diocese of the Anglican Church for his purposeful leadership and partnership with the Church.

Speaking after receiving the award during a special Thanksgiving Service marking the Golden Jubilee and launch of Jubilee Trust Fund of the Diocese of Aba, Anglican Communion held at the St Michael’s Cathedral Aba, Dr Ikpeazu reassured of providing basic infrastructures and sustain the record of the state as the safest across the Country.

The Governor represented by his Deputy, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu appreciated the Anglican Communion of Aba Diocese for the recognition accorded him and promised to uphold all the qualities that earned him the honour and enjoined other awardees to also live up to expectations.

He congratulated the Bishop of Aba Diocese, The RT Rev Christian Ugwuzor and members for the achievements they have recorded over the years and urged them to do more to face the challenges ahead.                                      

The State’s Chief Executive used the forum to commend the Anglican Communion for complimenting Government’s efforts and assured them of maintained partnership.

Dr. Ikpeazu however, solicited more prayers for the State and Nation’s leaderships to enable them get it right especially with the approach of the electioneering period.

Earlier in his speech, the Bishop of Aba Diocese, The RT Rev Christian Ugwuzor who disclosed that they are celebrating 50 years of God’s Faithfulness and blessings to the Anglican Church in Aba Diocese described the award given to the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu as a recognition of his achievements recorded across the State and promised to always uplift the State in prayers.

Our Government House Correspondent, Mercy Kalu reports that the Deputy Governor, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu was also presented with an award by the Aba Diocese during the Service and attracted the presence of the running mate of the PDP Governorship Candidate, Sir Okey Igwe.

Others are, the Commissioner for Science and Industry, Chief Okezie Erondu, his Ministry for Youth Development, Chief Charles Esonu, the member representing Aba North State Constituency, Chief Aaron Uzodike, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Sir Onyebuchi Ememanka, the Clergy, Traditional Rulers and other notable personalities.
