INNOVATION, DEVELOPMENT AND EFFECTIVENESS IN SKILLS ACQUISITION PROJECT LAUNCHED.

The State Government has officially launched Innovation, Development and Effectiveness in the Acquisition of Skills (IDEAS) Project, with a promise to provide a conducive environment for it to thrive in the state.

Speaking during the flag off ceremony held at Michael Okpara Auditorium Umuahia, the Governor Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu said that  Education of Abia pupils cum Students remains one of the cardinal policy thrusts of his administration, hence the establishment of Education for Employment Agency E4E and Incorporated the Education Sector into Abia State thirty years Long term project of the state.

Dr Ikpeazu  represented by the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Chris Ezem  described Vocational Education and Technical Skills as a derive tools to empower Entrepreneurs, create job opportunities and increase the state Internally Generated Revenue and enjoined Abia Students to take advantage of Technical Education provided by the government to acquire basic skills.

In their remarks the National Coordinator IDEAS Project, Mrs BLESSING OGWU; Director Skills Development NBTE Kaduna, Dr A .D MOHAMMED represented by Deputy Director NBTE, Kaduna Mr CHIDIEBERE ONYEGBULE; MANAGER FESTO SE Company, Mr OTUKOMAYA SAMPSON and OBINNA ONUCHUKWU of Innoson Motors said that IDEAS Project is aimed at achieving the right Technical Skills, through Vocational Education and commended the Governor for his resolve to revamp Technical Education in the state.

Also Speaking the Commissioner for Post Basic Education Sir CHIJOKE MARK; Focal Person IDEAS Project, Mr ENDI EZENGWA and State Project Coordinator IDEAS Project, Mrs NWANYIEZE OTUM said that the project is designed to develop the three Technical Colleges in the state which is centered on excellent and technical Vocational training of Abia youths.

They further disclosed that Abia is the only State in Southeast projecting IDEAS Project apart from the one at Ekiti State and thanked the Governor for his support towards the project.

In a vote of thanks the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Education Mr Eze Ajuzie and Project Communication Officer IDEAS Project, Mrs CHIGOZIRIM UCHE said that apart from training Abia Youths on Vocational Education, the project is also centred on supporting industrial sector of the state.
