The UK 1922 Committee Chairman, Sir Graham Brady says candidates to replace, Ms Liz Truss as Tory Leader will need at least one hundred nominations from conservative members of parliament.

Sir Brady who stated this after the resignation of Ms Truss said it will rule out a number of candidates from running which means the maximum number of people able to stand is three.

He recalled that during the last leadership election, Rishi Sunak won one hundred and thirty seven nominations, Ms Truss one hundred and thirteen and Penny Mordaunt one hundred and five.

However nominations are open till two 0’clock in the afternoon on Monday, with a new leader to be chosen by the end of the week.
