The Eastern Ngwa Divisional Police Headquarters Umuobiakwa, Obingwa Local Government Area and the one storey Ubakala Divisional Police Headquarters built by the Abia state Government have been commissioned by the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba.
Speaking at the Ceremony, the Governor, Dr Okezie Ikpeazu appreciated officers and men of the Nigerian police for their selfless service and charged the Inspector-General of Police to continue to encourage them for optimal performance.

The Governor while recalling that his administration completed and handed over the Zone 9 police station Umuahia to the Nigerian police assured that it would continue to provide logistics to security agencies to enable them discharge their duties effectively.
The state Chief Executive disclosed that the cordial working relationship between government and security agencies has yielded positive results adding that the prevailing peace in the state is attributable to the robust working relationship with all security agencies in the state.
He used the occasion to warn hoodlums and miscreants across the state to move away from Abia as there would be no hiding place for them during this Yuletide and going forward adding that government has resolved to keep the state safe.
Speaking while commissioning the police headquarters, the Inspector General of Police Alkali Baba Usman, who said the station is of International standard, noted that it is furnished with twenty-four hour-power which will aide the job of the police.
IGP Usman noted that Governor Ikpeazu has through the facility brought motivation and encouragement to the Nigerian police and promised that his men will justify the gesture.
The Inspector General of Police used the forum to thank Governor Ikpeazu for bequeathing the zone 9 police Umuahia with a permanent Office accommodation that is of International standard and for launching ICT-driven security architecture in line with international best practices.
He said that the Governor has through the gesture entered the guinness record book as police most friendly Governor, charging his men to protect and defend the facility.
In their goodwill messages, the chairman Obingwa Local Government Area, Mrs. Uloma Nwogu, the Chairman, Abia State Council of Traditional Rulers, Eze Joseph Nwabekee and Chief Ike Onyenweaku congratulated the governor on his developmental projects across the state including the security of lives and property of the citizenry and expressed optimism that he would do more in the Senate come 2023. Governor Ikpeazu had earlier handed over the newly completed DPO Quarters, Umuobiakwa to the IGP and was witnessed by the AIG Zone 9 Umuahia Isaac Akinmoyede, state Commissioner of police Mr. Muhammad Bala among other service Chiefs, while the SSG Mr. Chris Ezem, Chief of Staff to the Governor Chief Okey Ahaiwe among others witnessed the ceremony.
