The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has commissioned two Innoson Vehicle Manufacturers-BOSCH Automobile Service and Maintenance Workshops situated at Abia State Multi-skills Development Centre, Kilometer 8 Umuobiakwa Village in Obingwa Local Government Area and Ahiaeke Umuogele Nvosi along Ururuka Road In Isialangwa South Local Government Area.
Speaking at the Commissioning ceremony, the Governor said that the Workshop which is a State Government project through Education for Employment Agency (E4E) and in partnership with Innoson Kiara Academy and German Government is designed to assist those already learning Auto technical skills to acquire new method in auto technician work.
Dr. Ikpeazu represented by the State Commissioner for Post Basic Education, Sir Chijoke Mark, noted that the gesture is his administration’s resolve to get Abia youths gainfully employed.
The Governor recalled that through the collaboration of World Bank Assisted IDEAS PROJECT, his administration recently successfully revamped three Government Technical Colleges located at Aba, Afaraukwu Umuahia and Ania Ohafia Local Government Area.
He disclosed that auto technicians from Nnewi and Enugu Innoson Kiara Academy among other Development Partners have been deployed to the project sites to ensure that those already learning acquire the basic skills.
Speaking the State PDP Governorship Candidate Prof Uche Ikonne represented by Sir Chinedu Ugoala Commended the Director General Abia State Education for Employment Agency Mr Endi Ezengwa for his vision for Abia Youths and assured that, if elected, his administration will take the project to a greater height.
In their remarks, the Executive Secretary Abians in Diaspora, Dr Mrs Ngozi Erondu, Chairman Governing Council of Abia State Polytechnic Aba Chief John Nwamgborogwu, Executive Secretary, SEMB, Sir Christopher Osuagwu and a former Commissioner in ASOPADEC, Sir Uzoma Ihuka ,observed that the project attracted by Governor Okezie Ikpeazu through the DG, Abia State Education for Employment Agency would harness potentials of Youths and encourage grassroots development.
Presenting the overall view of the project, the Director General, Abia State Education for Employment Agency (E4E), Mr. Ezengwa and Director, South East NBTE, Mrs. Ngozi Okelekwe, said that the workshop and machines already installed in the project site will go a long way in assisting technicians acquire new knowledge on automobile engineering.
They commended the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu and other development partners for being behind the success story of the project in the state.
Highlights of the commissioning ceremony were presentation of award to the Governor by the National Automobile Technician Association as the Grand Patron of the Association as well awards of Honor on the State PDP Governorship candidate, Prof Uche Ikonne as Worthy Patron of Innoson Kiara Academy by the Abia State Education for Employment Agency (E4E), the Head of Service, Sir Onyii Wamah, among other deserving Nigerians.
