For Sports news, Team Delta were yesterday officially declared winners of the Twenty-first National Sports Festival in Asaba, Delta State Capital.
The hosts won three hundred and twenty Gold, two hundred Silver and one hundred and twenty-eight Bronze medals to edge thirty-five other States and the Federal Capital Territory and stay atop the Nigerian apex sports festival.
Delta’s neighbour, Bayelsa came second with one hundred and thirty-two Gold, one hundred and fifteen Silver and ninety Bronze medals followed by another of their neighbours – Edo with seventy-eight Gold, ninety-four Silver and one hundred and sixty-seven Bronze medals.
The South-South states dominated the first three positions, while Oyo State broke into the fourth position with fifty Gold, fifty-one Silver and sixty-two Bronze medals.
Lagos secured forty-one Gold, fifty-seven Silver and seventy-four bronze Medals to secure fifth position.
Abia finished on the twelfth position on the overall medals table with ten Gold, eleven Silver and twenty Bronze medals.
