2023: ‘No Cellphones Allowed At Voting Cubicles,’ INEC Reminds Voters

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its ban on Smartphone at voting cubicles while participating in the forthcoming general elections.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has reiterated its ban on Smartphone at voting cubicles while participating in the forthcoming general elections.

The INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu said this today at the commission’s stakeholder’s summit on addressing the influence of money on 2023 general elections in Abuja.

A man is about to cast his vote at the polling unit. 

He stated that determiners in the fight against vote-buying include financial institutions, religious organizations, Traditional institutions, the media, Civil Bodies and above all citizens.

The meeting which was attended by representatives of the Nigeria Police Force, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other related offences Commission (ICPC), the Nigerian Broadcasting Commission, Media Organization, Civil Society Organization and the Inter-Party Advisory Commission (IPAC) made it clear that citizens must reject inducements to sway their votes through vote-buying.
