The Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu has commissioned two projects executed by the Chairman Ukwa West Local Government Area, Chief Okey Kanu.
Speaking while commissioning the projects including new Administrative building and a Health Centre as part of his consultation visit to the Local Government Area that make up Abia South, the Governor commended the Chairman Ukwa West Local Government Area for successfully completing the projects.
He noted that Chief Kanu has shown that he loves his people by effectively utilizing scarce resources available to his administration, pointing out that the Local Government Areas remain the nearest to the people and veritable platform for the grooming of future leaders.
The State Chief Executive who promised that the State government will sink a borehole in the health centre and donate medical equipment, promised to personally fund a medical outreach in the centre to help create awareness and charged the personnel to ensure proper use of the equipment when it comes.
Speaking, the Chairman Ukwa West Local Government Area Chief Okey Kanu thanked the Governor for finding time to inaugurate the projects which are evidence of his passion for grassroots development.
Also speaking, the leaders of Asa land including the member representing Ukwa West in the State House of Assembly Chief Goddy Adiele, commissioner Chief Sam Nwogu, Director General Uche Ndi Abia campaign organization Chief Chinedum Elechi, Sole Administrator ASOPADEC Henry Chilaka and Dame Victoria Akanwa thanked the Governor for funding the restoration of electricity in the entire local government and for the ongoing Urata – Omuma Uzo Ugwuati road.
The PDP candidate for Ukwa East and West Federal Constituency Chief Chris Nkwonta, a former Deputy Governor Chief Acho Nwakama, Chief Thomas Nkoro, Chief Rowland Nwakama among others accompanied the Governor to the visit.
