The Federal Government says four million metres will be distributed in the second phase of the ongoing National Mass Metering Programme.
Speaking during a live progamme in Abuja the Special Adviser to the President on Infrastructure Ahmad Zakari, said that one million Units were deployed in the first phase of the programme.
Mr. Zakari disclosed that President Muhammadu Buhari has withheld some funding that was available from the World Bank for a short period of time to allow them restructure the Discos while they have a World Bank facility that will fund another one point two-five million metres.
He encouraged the Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency, NNEMSA, overseeing more than twenty new local manufacturing companies on-boarded to assemble the procured metres.
The Special Adviser revealed that they have subsequently concluded the process for another four million metres that are all going to local manufacturers.
