The State Government has been commended for declaring two day public holiday to enable workers and traders in the State to go and collect their permanent voter cards.

The Chairman Spare Parts Dealers, Ohiya Nsukwe Umuogo Industrial Cluster, Mr. Ugochukwu Efem who made the commendation in an interview with BCA correspondent Ifeanyi Ogbonna said that the public holiday offered the traders the opportunity to collect their permanent voter cards.

Mr. Efem said that they fully complied with the State Government directives of closing the market for two days.

Also speaking, a former Chairman Timber Industrial Market, Umuahia, Comrade Felix Nwaru described the gesture of the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu in declaring workers and traders free two days to enable people collect their permanent voter cards as commendable.

Comrade Nwaru also frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of INEC staff at some of the collection centres and inability of the Commission to make available some of the PVCs as well as hours people spend before getting their permanent voter cards.

Contributing, the State Chairman Parent Teachers Association, Sir Jude Ezeigbo while commending the State Government for the two day public holiday stressed the need for teachers to make use of the opportunity by visiting INEC offices at the various Local Government Areas to pick up their permanent voter cards.

Sir Ezeigbo advised INEC to make the collection of the PVCs seamless, to enable people pick up their PVCs before the 29th of this month closing date for the collection of the PVCs.
