The Vice Chancellor Abia State University Uturu Professor Onyemachi Ogbulu has reassured that graduates of the University will continue to maintain academic excellence at both local and international levels.

Professor Ogbulu who disclosed this during the twenty-ninth Convocation Press Briefing of Abia State University Uturu held at the Council Conference room said a total of three thousand, seven hundred and twenty-four Graduands will participate in the Convocation ceremony.

According to the Vice Chancellor the Convocation ceremony will be preceded by Books and Arts exhibition and a pre-Convocation Lecture on the topic: “Public versus Private Universities in Nigeria: the politics, challenges and prospects” to be delivered by a Human Rights Activist and Senior Advocate of Nigeria Chief Mike Ozekhome.

He further disclosed that the Convocation proper will commence on Friday this week with the commissioning of projects by the visitor to the University Governor Okezie Ikpeazu followed by the Confernment of First and Higher Degrees, Professor Emeritus on Professor Ogwo E. Ogwo and the Presentation of Prizes and Honorary Degrees on some distinguished Nigerians.

Professor Ogbulu thanked the Governor and visitor to the University Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu for ensuring adequate security around the University environment and commended Journalists for being partners in progress in promoting the academic exploits of the University.

Speaking, the State Chairman of the NUJ Comrade Victor Ndukwe represented by his Deputy Comrade Chidi Asonye thanked Professor Ogbulu and his Management Team for the good work they are doing in the University and promised that Abia NUJ will continue to work with them in projecting the good image of the University.
